Broadcast Dialogue Editor Connie Thiessen will moderate a cross-disciplinary discussion at the 2026 WABE Media & Entertainment Technology Conference in Vancouver next week.

“The VPs of Programming, Engineering, Distribution & Ad Sales Walk Into a Bar…” will bring together senior broadcast leaders to explore how traditionally siloed departments are increasingly becoming interconnected parts of a unified, data-driven media business.

The discussion will look at the opportunities, tensions and strategic decisions emerging as programming, technology, distribution and revenue teams adapt to a rapidly-changing media landscape.

Joining Thiessen on the panel are Brad Danks, President & CEO of OUTtv Network and OUTtv Media Global, and Michelle van Beusekom, President & CEO of Knowledge Network.

Thiessen, an award-winning journalist with more than 25 years of experience in Canadian media, has been Editor of Broadcast Dialogue since 2016. She also hosts and produces Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast.

The session takes place Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 3:45–4:30 p.m. in the Cordova Ballroom (Salon A) at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront in Vancouver.

WABE 2026 runs Oct. 5–7, bringing together broadcasters, content creators, manufacturers and technology companies from across the Canadian media and entertainment industry.
